Bonus Round: Thirty Days of [blank]

I hear it takes thirty days to make something a habit. Thirty days. In a sense, that a long time if we’re talking sobriety. But compared to growing an entire person, that’s like, what, one ninth? NUTHIN’! I say.

Well, let’s just see about that.

Starting August First (grab your iCalendar! QUICK!) which is Saturday, I’m starting a new series: Thirty Days of [blank]. I’ll try to post once a month for thirty days as I accomplish some sort of task. Working out 30 days in a row? Drinking enough water? Going sober? No caffiene? Reading actual books that require one you lick their finger and turn an actual page?

You wanna join my crack pot lastest idea? Of course you do. You do because it’s good for you. Because thirty days of sex isn’t a bad idea. Because thirty days of yoga can’t be wrong. Because thirty days of singing out loud with the guitar that’s been hiding in your closet since the late 90’s can only mean one thing: You’re you.

And I’m me.

Let’s do this together.

Starting Saturday.

30days

I’m in, but do I have to pick what I want to do for 30 days right this second? Because if so, I’m not sure yet.

I’ve been trying to come up with a project to jump start my creativity. I don’t have a blog, but I can participate throuch flickr. I know people have been doing the 365 day project, and I might extend it beyond the 30 days, but this 30 Days of {Blank} is just the boost that I need.

  8. I’ve actually been considering trying to make dinner every day for a week and decided that was asking too much of myself. So that one’s out. But 30 days of…SOMETHING??? Maybe…

It’s 30 days of love to myself. August is going to be a hard month, but I’m going to do it. It’s 30 days of loving myself.

OMG…the pressure, especially for a girl that has the attention span of a gnat. I did completely empty out my reader the day after I got back from BlogHer. Maybe I’ll spend the 30 days finding one new blog to read a day. Too much pressure? How will I keep up? Will have to think on this one…

Yeah, o.k., I’m in. Thirty days of cleaning. Seriously. It’s THAT bad. Besides, my Mom said she might come and visit for Labor Day. That would be really really bad if I didn’t do some serious cleaning.

  37. I am totally in. Gonna take the next couple of days to figure out which to do – blog or take pictures. I have been slacking on both fronts. Don’t even get me started on the working out. Oy vey. Won’t even set myself for failure on that one!

Great idea! Just the kick in the ass I needed.

  38. Jill says:

This is an excellent idea. I have to think of something to do. Actually I know what I *should* do, but I think I’m setting myself up for failure if I commit to 30 days straight of working out. #isuck

Ok, i’m new, but game. I think i will try to do 30 days of cleaning (30 mins. worth?) and drawing 30 mins. and trying to work up the nerve to ride my gelding for a short time every day….a tough one because i am 54 and overweight, but need to keep is training up.

I’ts just a couple of hours a day, can’t be that hard, right? Even if I shorten it to 15 mins of each thing, it’s something…..Hell YAH!

I came across this site via Mrs Flinger via Pioneer Woman. I LOVE your idea. I am still tossing a couple ideas back and forth but I think I am going to go with 30 days of laundry b/c that is truly my housekeeping downfall. Not very exciting, but if I can develop a better habit of, not just washing and folding, but PUTTING AWAY IMMEDIATELY, my bedroom and the kids’ bedrooms will be so much neater!

Harmony–my sister just recently blogged about being more feminine and wearing more skirts. (http://mjwaters.blogspot.com/)

    Thanks!

Holy Bizarre-Crazy-Fate-Thing Batman! I have planned a “30 Days of..” project for August and then this morning found your site via two other blogs. It will be great to follow along with others. I plan to write (with an actual pen and paper) and mail (with an actual stamp and physical address) a letter to a different friend everyday.

    Can’t wait to follow along!

You have just inspired me! I’m trying to lose weight, and my birthday month of July has thrown me way off course. I am going to attempt to go the 30 days staying within my calorie limit, and working out at least 3 days per week. Woo! It’s going to be hard, but I hope I can manage it, and make real changes in those 30 days!
